Personal History:

Kent was born on Bajor to a Bajoran father and a Human mother.  His father had been a member of the Shakaar Resistance fighting the Cardassians and his mother a member of the organization Doctors without Borders, who had been smuggled in to help treat the wounded of the Bajoran resistance.  The couple had two children, a son, Kent.  And two years later, a daughter, Kers.

Kent's father had been a fighter pilot and his love of the small ships was carried on to his son and daughter.  As a result, when the occupation ended, the pair both joined Starfleet with the intention of becoming fighter pilots themselves.

The siblings took different paths to the USS Melbourne, where Kent was assigned as the CAG (Commander Aerospace Group), and Kers as a fighter pilot.  The pair served together for almost six months before Kers was killed in the battle of Chempac.

During Kers' funeral rites Kent, previously an unreligious man, was granted a vision from the prophets.  In it was the Emissary, Capt. Sisko, who told him that he had been chosen as the Sword of Bajor.  In his vision he was shown a Dominion Fleet that was poised to strike at Starbase Gamma from a secret location.  This information turned out to be true and the Dominion Fleet was destroyed when Kent used a superweapon to cause the system's sun to supernova.

Months later, on a routine patrol, Kent spotted a pirate ship and gave chase.  During a chase around a local star, Kent, his wingman, and later the Melbourne were sucked back in time to the year 1997 where Khan Noonian Sing and his supermen were in control of the world.

Seperated from his comrades, Kent found himself as the leader of a small resistance group, then later as the General in command of the Patriot's Rebel army.  Having given up hope of rescue, Kent lead the world's underground resistance with unprecedented success.  In 1999, he also used a pair of quantom torpedoes left over after he had crashed.

Unknown to him, the Melbourne had been thrown to the year 1999.  To them, they had just arrived, but Kent had spent two years on Earth.  Ironically, it was his illegal act of using the quantom weapons that alerted the Melbourne to his survival, and eventual rescue.

After returning to their proper timeling, Kent was arrested by temporal investigations and then court martialed for violating the prime directive through his use of the quantom torpedoes.  After being found guilty, Kent was dishonorably discharged, stripped of his comission, and faced the possibility of life in prison.

Partially because of his excellent service record, and partially because of a cry for mercy from his Bajoran homeworld, Kent was spared the sentance of life imprisonment.  Instead, he was offered a different way to serve the Federation.  As a civillian intelligence operative.

After his "reasignment," Kent spent the next six months training with the civilian operations division of Section 31 codenamed the "Service."
Over a six month period, Kent was trained in a variety of skills, and spent his sleeping hours in hypnosis learning everything from political customs to different languages.

After a two month tour of duty running double agents on Romulus, Kent was offered a mission into the Mirror Universe on the ISS Chrono to work as an intelligence operative with orders to gather as much intelligence information on the political situation as possible and identify any and all threats to the Federation.   Kent served in this capacity for almost a year.

Later, in that same year Kent returned to the Federation to give a briefing to Starfleet command on the danger the Mirror Universe imposed.  On his way to Earth, the transport Kent was on was attacked by Orion pirates who were attempting to kidnap Lita Scarrow, daughter of Starfleet Admiral Nicholas Scarrow.  Kent assisted the crew in attempting to fight off the Orion pirates, but they were unsuccesful in preventing the kidnapping.  Kent managed to stow himself away on the pirates' assault shuttle and found himself on the planet Valoras Prime inside Ferengi space.  Kent, acting alone with no assistance, covertly rescued the girl and made his way back to the Federation.

As a reward for his selfless act, Kent's service record was reviewed by Section 31 officials who deemed that Kent had paid his debt to the Service and that he could be released if he wished it.  However, as a result of his mission with the ISS Chrono, Kent was considered too valuable a source of information on the mirror universe to be allowed to simply leave starfleet.  Instead, Kent was offered his commission back with the understanding that his year with Section 31 was absolutely top secret.

As one of only a handful of Marines who were bridge qualified, (Kent achieved this on the USS Melbourne) Kent was assigned to the USS Benedict in Gamma Fleet.  Partially in the hope that being assigned to a science/exploration vessel and not a warship would keep him out of trouble, and partially with the intention of honing his keen skill for command.
